Project 365

The idea is to take a picture a day for entire year and document it. The kit goes up forsale on the first and hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one.

I know I won't have a problem taking a picture a day, if you know me, you know I always have my camera near by and carry one in my purse for those just in case moments. I love the idea that everything is done and requires no thinking. I would like my kids to get involved and have them take some photos and write up their own journaling.

Today actually started day one as the weeks fall from Sunday-Saturday. So for day 1: a picture of my sick little Kaden all snuggled on the couch fast asleep.

Is anyone else going to do this for 2009?????

Merry Christmas

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season.

We are just getting home from a family gathering. Bringing more and more presents home. Which means out with the old in with the new. I really don't get rid of the old (not just yet anyway), I just move them to the playroom so that the new toys can come in the bedrooms.

The kids are pretty happy with what the received and they are busy playing. When I say kids, that includes my husband too! I think he secretly enjoys the new toys too. I already caught him pushing around a big truck and playing with a MP3 player. Just wait until he picks up the guitar for guitar hero and starts jamming. As long as he stays away from my stuff-it all good!

Merry Christmas,

Melanie

Front page of the newspaper

I made the front page on our local newspaper! While working this past week the journal called the my place of employment to do a quick interview. Little did I know it would make the front page.

Here's the article: http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/article/20081222/SPJ0101/812220393&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL

So I guess that's my 15 seconds of fame. LOL! Scott brings the paper home and says I need to scrap it.

I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner. I still have little shopping to do. I planned on doing my baking Sunday and Monday but a little nasty stomach flu bug knocked me down. At least all my gifts are wrapped. So, tomorrow I'm heading out (sick or not) to finish up.

I hope everyone is ready for the holiday season.

A Handmade Embellishment class!

A while back I has won a free seat a class at my favorite site, Debbie Hodge's: http://debbiehodge.squarespace.com/ There were so many to choose from but I chose one from Tania Willis, here's her blog: http://www.throughtrialsiambeingpurified.blogspot.com/ . The class is called Embellishments: Beautifully Handmade.

As many of you know I prefer to make my own embellishments. I like them to be different, one of a kind. Plus it is a creative outlet for me.
Do you want to join me, sign up!

A project I'm working on

One day I was walking around Michael's browsing their Christmas decor. I came across these clear glass ornaments. My first thought was why do they make a flat backed ornament, it would look silly on the tree. I walked around thinking about them and a snow globe crossed my mind. I was thinking how I could incorporate it into a project. Well I bought them, not having an idea in mind (you just can't let a coupon go to waste. LOL!).

I started working on a mini album using my December kit from A Kiss on the Chic and I wanted to do something using a vintage theme with black and white photos. So far I came up with this, but this is just the start. I want to do more to the ornament yet, maybe some type of snowflake rub-on or mica snow.

When you shake it the glitter and snowflakes more about. I can't wait til I get the pages done and put back together. Like I said, I'm not done with the cover yet. I love using vintage objects and using items that are not necessarily for scrapbooking to make a project.

So I'll leave you with this, a beginning of a project. Don't worry I'll repost when I'm finished.

My Christmas picture

Here is this year's Christmas card photo!

I have a hard time taking posed photos (of more than 1 person). It usually is my oldest, Brandon that don't cooperate! My daughter, Khila loves the camera and my youngest, Kaden his eyes are in every direction but the camera. I now have a couple I like and have to choose between those. Scott liked this one the best.

My kids are just getting to big! I remember trying to pose babies in front of the Christmas tree with a toddler-now that was work. All for 1 picture. Professional photographers are amazing people!

Brandon was so mad at me for making him wear the sweater, he told me he looked like a geek. I said it's only for 5 minutes. I don't think he looks like a geek, but I guess that's a mom talking. I like sweaters! What do you think? He'd rather be in a Green Bay Packer sweatshirt instead. Maybe next year if I can find something for the other 2 so they coordinate. I would like to try for a family pictures some day, but I'm not taking it!

I had planned for outside photos this year. Lucky it warmed up to 20 degrees so I had to shoot fast before the kids froze. Yesterday it was below 0. Good thing I waited an extra day!

I finished up my shopping this morning! (whoo-hooo!) I'm going to wrap in a few minutes so I can say I'm DONE!

Now I have to work on Christmas dinner menu and the dishes I'm taking along to the Christmas parties. I prefer to take appetizers and finger foods and I'm always looking for new recipes.

I'm also working on a scrapbook project using my A Kiss on the Chic December kit. I loved it so much I bought an entire new one just for myself. I used up the one I designed with and needed more.
Hope everyone is staying warm and healthy!

just stuff....

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't sure what to title this. I just wanted to say a bunch of "stuff" and get some scrapping done today.---but I can never seem to get off the computer.

So first things first I wanted to post the December kits for A Kiss on the Chic, there are only a limited number left so if you interested better jump on them now! Here's the Very Vintage Christmas (I love this kit, the colors and the fun stuff included:

Then we have the Merry and Bright kit (ok, love the stuff in this one too!)

Here's a link to the December kit page to get all the needed info and to purchase them and all the fun little add-ons that match the kits: (http://akissonthechic.typepad.com/laura_mccollough_scrapboo/december-kits.html).

Next on my list is Tim Holtz! Let me tell you this man is so full of inspiration. He is doing the 12 tags of Christmas. I can't wait til Santa see's my Christmas List this year! Here's a link to his blog, just check out the fun stuff! (http://timholtz.typepad.com/) He's on day 4 already! Just look at today's tag, there is so many wonderful techniques on that little piece of paper. I can't wait to make my own!

I have been working in my scrapbook room, cleaning and organizing and organzing some more. I have been trying to come up with a project. Something that will take time and I can work on for a while. So if you have any ideas feel free to pass them along.

This weekend I'm hoping to get some more Christmas shopping done. I have made my lists of stuff I have bought and need to purchase yet. Everything I do have has been wrapped already (such a relief of having that done already!) I don't have the tree up, I usually wait til a week before Christmas or when my kids bug me so much I can't stand it anymore and put it up. I get tired of looking at it really fast. I'm usually one of first ones to take it down, somewhere around a day or 2 after Christmas. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, I did purchase a whole bunch of "new" ornamants last year at the end of the season I would love to see how they look on the tree---I'll just wait til the kids bug me and then give in that way they'll want to help!

I have been asked by another scrapbooking kit to guest design (and you know I can't say who yet...but I'm super excited!) So look for that in the early part of next year (that sounds so far away doesn't it?!?!?!?)but, really I'm only talking about next month or the month after.

Thanks to all of those stopping at my blog, I love when you comments, just say "HI!" always like to hear that. Have a great weekend and stay warm! The high's this weekend are in the teens! Brrrrrrrrr!

**well my youngest just came home sick, I guess it's that time of year. Hope is just a quick bug and he's back on his feet.

Guest Designing for A Work in Progress kits

A few months back Trish at a Work in Progress (http://www.workinprogresskits.com/) had asked me to guest design for her. Of course I said yes! Her kits are just packed with pattern paper (which is my favorite scrapbook product) and fun embellishments. Here are the layouts I did along with an altered chipboard project about my Daughter, Khila. Showing how she has grown over the years (where did the time go already?) I would like to thank Trish and her kit club A Work in Progress again for this opportunity!

Have a great Monday everyone!
